RECIPE: Guava & Thyme Compound Butter

Makes 1 cup

Savvy Tip: you can find guava paste in well-stocked Caribbean or Asian grocery stores. You can also purchase from online stores such as Amazon.

INGREDIENTS

¾ cup unsalted butter, softened

3 tbsp guava paste, softened

1 tsp fleur de sel

2 tsp fresh thyme leaves

PREPARATION

  1. In a small bowl, mix the softened unsalted butter and guava paste with a fork until smooth.

  2. Add the fleur de sel and thyme leaves and mix well. Note: you can use it immediately at this point.

  3. For storage: Place the compound butter on a parchment paper or plastic wrap. Roll into a log, secure the ends, and refrigerate for up to a week. You can also freeze for up to a month. To use, simply slice the amount butter that you need.
